Singapore Meetup:
GenAI - Friend or Foe?
I have been absolutely humbled by the Singapore SAFe® Community. Generally, when I host a first-time Meetup in a location, around 20 people show up. In Singapore, I had to cap registration at 65 and ended up with an additional 25 on the waitlist. Whew!
Including the cohort we’re working with this week, we had more than 80 people at the GenAI: Friend or Foe? event at the JW Marriott, Singapore.
In this session we discussed:
How has GenAI impacted work-life?
ChatGPT for proofreading and confirmation of tone is a win.
Nearly all organizations view GenAI as a strategic imperative; few organizations have a plan for how GenAI will provide a financial return.
How has GenAI impacted things at home?
South Park was right: don’t use GenAI to respond to text messages from your partner.
ChatGPT is a great tool for analyzing message threads in the dating world without emotion or bias.
What is keeping you up at night about GenAI?
Companies are already using GenAI with questionable ethics (candidate screening, for example). When will there be regulation?
Will GenAI make a 4-day work week a reality?
We also discussed:
The SAFe guidance for “Responsible AI” and the upcoming micro-credential.
The “extreme simplification” of the framework for SAFe Next.
The future of Scaled Agile.
What I Learned in June ‘24
Science is pretty cool when you can keep it separate from politics.
Less is more; simplicity is elegance.
You will always underestimate the scope of your impact.
Fear causes people to behave in interesting ways. Show grace.
Quote of the Month
I always carry a journal so I can write down the interesting things that people say (thanks for the idea, Gene!) Here is a gem from May:
“The hardest thing that has happened to you is the hardest thing that has happened to you.”
Reflection: You can’t hold others to your baseline of what is "hard." Their experience is different from yours. Not better, not worse—just different. Regardless of the baseline, we should all aim to increase our appetite for doing hard things.
Latest Podcasts
I learned something interesting last week about my ‘lil project, The SAFe Business Agility Podcast. Apparently, 25k unique downloads per episode is kind of a big deal! In fact, it puts us among the top 5% of podcasts in the world! I’m probably more excited about that than you are, but cool is cool.

Someone You Should Know
Maddison Schnider
A few months ago my friend Maddison left the corporate world to pursue a new mission: helping high-performers balance professional success and personal fulfillment.
Maddison launched her coaching business, “WorkLife Coaching,” his month and is already helping people find their balance.
How do I know that Maddison is a badass in the world of coaching? Because, before leaving corporate life, we worked together. In her role on the team, Maddison has been helping me find balance and prioritize relationships for years. Her methods and perspective are powerful and uniquely her own. She is inspiring, motivating, and takes no nonsense. Because of these traits, she has become a dear friend.
Please take a look at what Maddison is offering, and if you’re looking to achieve better balance between your professional and personal aspirations, schedule a chat with her.
